Privacy
Lighter Nights runs entirely on your phone. It has no account, no server of its own, no analytics and no advertising. This page lists exactly what the app stores, where it goes, and the two moments something can leave the device.
What the app stores on your phone
Everything is kept in the app's local storage on the device. These are the keys and what each holds:
| Key | Content |
|---|---|
nights_v1 | Which evenings you logged and how (clear, mindful or loose), as dates — nothing else. |
spend_v1 | The rough amount you said a night out used to cost. |
per_week_v1 | How many nights a week used to involve drinking, as you entered it. |
currency_v1 | The currency symbol you chose ($, € or £). |
reasons_v1 | The reasons you ticked on the welcome screen (for example "better sleep"). |
welcomed_v1 | Whether the welcome screens have been shown. |
ticket_v1 | Whether the one-time unlock has been bought or restored. |
Nothing here identifies you. The app does not ask for your name, e-mail, contacts, location, photos or health data, and never reads them. Erase my nights on the You page deletes the log; uninstalling the app deletes everything.
The two ways anything leaves your phone
1. A poster you share
When you tap the share icon on a milestone, the app draws a picture (a number, a caption and the app name) and hands it to your phone's share sheet. What happens next is up to you and the app you choose — Lighter Nights does not see where it goes and keeps no copy beyond a temporary file your phone clears.
2. The one-time unlock
The purchase and any restore run through Apple's App Store or Google Play. They process the payment under their own privacy terms; the app only receives a yes or no and stores it as ticket_v1. We never see your payment details.
What the app does not do
- No network connection of its own: no server, no sync, no cloud backup from the app.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising.
- No access to Health, HealthKit, Google Fit or any sensor.
- No notifications unless a future version asks you first.
Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include the app's local storage like any other app's; that is governed by Apple's or Google's terms, not ours.
Children
The app is about alcohol and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Your rights (GDPR)
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing on our side to access, correct, export or delete — the data exists only on your device, under your control. If you believe otherwise, write to the address below and we will answer within a month. You may also complain to a data-protection authority.

Changes
If a future version of the app stores or sends anything new, this page changes first and the date at the top moves.
